Treated the way it should be The yarn is VOT (Vegetable Oil Treated) with food-grade soybean oil. JBO (Jute Batching Oil — the petroleum-based lubricant common in carpet-grade rope) is not used in our finishing process. Twisted at 38 TPM into a 3-ply, 6 mm rope, then hand-knotted at the ends and packed in a printed paper sleeve. Plays like conditioned rope, right out of the package You don't have to oil it, wax it, or singe it before your first session. The natural Bangla Tossa fiber has the grip-and-flow that traditional shibari knot-work needs — it bites when you cinch it down, glides when you feed it through a wrap, and lays flat against skin. If you eventually want to add your own wax or jojoba, the rope is shipped uncoated so you can take it where you want it. Two ways to buy it 30 ft pieces are ready to tie out of the package.
