LOCATION: San Francisco, Mission District

POINT OF CONTACT: Facilities Manager, or the site contact for that project

ENGAGEMENT TYPE: Independent contractor, engaged per project. Contracted by the day or for a defined project scope, one or more days at a time. No guaranteed volume of work. Each engagement is separate, and either party may decline any given project.

COMPENSATION: $22.00-$25.00 per hour, or a flat project rate agreed in advance. Contractor invoices for completed work. Payment issued via 1099; contractor is responsible for their own taxes, including self-employment tax.

OVERVIEW

We contract with a small pool of day laborers when a project needs extra hands. The work moves around between our three San Francisco locations and changes from one project to the next: unloading a truck, staging stock in the warehouse, pulling up carpeting ahead of a build-out, breaking down after an event, moving furniture between floors. Some projects are freight and pallets. Some are demolition and cleanup.

What earns repeat engagements is straightforward. Arrive when agreed, complete the scope efficiently, and treat our product and property carefully. We would rather work with the same few reliable people than start over each time, so contractors who do the work well are the first ones we contact when the next project comes up.
